Mission

The premier Monroe road race that began 25 years ago as a local Jaycees community-service project with just over 200 runners has evolved over the years to become a major regional 5K race and fun run with nearly 1,000 runners and walkers in 2016. This year’s race, sponsored by the Kimball Group, will continue in its tradition to support youth programs and other local not-for-profit groups.

The Sprint has always geared its mission toward funding local projects, charity groups, and educational initiatives for our youth.  The event seeks to give back to the community in meaningful ways by bringing the town together for one day, one morning, one amazing race.  Last year’s race benefited the following groups:  Monroe Food Pantry, Project Warmth Monroe, Monroe Volunteer EMS, Stepney Volunteer Fire Department, ADAM (Alcohol and Drug Awareness Monroe), Monroe Youth Commission, Monroe Friendship Fund, the Chase Kowalski Memorial Fund, Monroe Parks and Rec Department, the Masuk Track Team, the Masuk Color Guard Team and Masuk Swim Team.

The Sprint for Monroe is a day where the community comes together to celebrate activity and fitness and to support each other. We run, we walk, we volunteer, we sponsor the event held in our own backyards. You can literally feel the spirit and the positive energy throughout the morning. From the registration to the kids’ race to the run to the post race party, the day is filled with fun.
